2026 Flint Hills Festival partner application

  1. Please join us at the 2026 Flint Hills Festival!

    The Flint Hills Festival is the largest single day event at the Flint Hills Discovery Center (FHDC). It is a celebration of the food, history, ecology, music, and people of the Flint Hills. The festival is a family-friendly event with live music, food trucks, games and activities for all ages. The 2026 Flint Hills Festival is Saturday, May 2, from 10 am to 5 pm. The festival is free to the public. The 2025 attendance was approximately 9,000.

  2. Partner Guidelines

    1. Flint Hills Festival Partners are limited to the following categories:

    Explore the Flint Hills:

    Organizations, governmental agencies, or nonprofits located in or near the Flint Hills region with a mission of promoting the Flint Hills, educating about the history, culture, ecology, science, arts, services, and activities within or appropriate to the Flint Hills.

    Businesses or individuals located in the Flint Hills who produce original art or products, or whose primary mission is to promote tourism, exploration, or other educational activities specific to the Flint Hills or Tallgrass Prairie.

    Commercial businesses including but not limited to franchises, resale, and medical services will not be approved. The Flint Hills Discovery Center reserves the right to reject applications that do not reflect the mission of the Flint Hills Festival.

    Taste of Kansas:

    Food products 100% grown, produced, or manufactured in the state of Kansas. Priority will be given to, but not limited to, From the Land of Kansas (FLOK) members. Franchise or resale businesses will not be approved.

    There is a separate application for food trucks, wineries, distilleries, and breweries. Please contact the Flint Hills Discovery Center for the appropriate application.

    2. Set up begins at 8 am on Saturday, May 2. Streets will be closed to traffic at 8 am. Partners may access the streets until 9:30 am. Partners must be open for service from 10 am. to 5 pm. Streets reopen at 5:30 pm. 

    3. All Partners should have an interactive/participation activity or demonstration appropriate for all ages. Activities will increase the foot traffic to your booth. Partners may hand out information about their organization or business.

    4. Sale of merchandise is limited to original art or products produced in or near the Flint Hills or directly inspired by the Flint Hills. Partners are responsible for all city and state taxes. The Flint Hills Festival is located in a special sales tax district. A $50 non-refundable vendor fee is required in advance from vendors having a commercial activity. Partners doing only demonstrations and sharing information do not pay the vendor fee.

    5. All displays must be clean, attractive, and well maintained. Booth volunteers and staff must be clean and neatly dressed. They are expected to treat all guests in a courteous and friendly manner.

    6. The Flint Hills Discovery Center will supply each Partner with a six-foot table and two chairs. Additional tables and chairs are available as available. Tents are not provided. Partners are encouraged to bring a tent. Tents must be appropriately weighted for wind.

    7. Photos supplied by the Partner may be used in promotional material and social media. In submitting their application, Partners agree that they are allowing permission for photos and/or videos of their booth, staff, and/or volunteers to be used in future promotional material and social media for and by the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

    8. Booth assignment is at the discretion of the Flint Hills Festival planning committee. Booths may be on grass or pavement. A very limited number of booths are available inside the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

    9. Electricity is available for a limited number of booths. No heavy amp loads, such as refrigerators, heaters, coffee pots, or crock pots should be attached to city electricity.

    9. A majority of the festival takes place outdoors. This event is rain or shine. There is no alternative date in the event of severe weather.

    10. The Flint Hills Discovery Center reserves the right to decline businesses or organizations that do not conform to the guideline as stated or are inappropriate to the family friendly nature of the event.
