In the weeks immediately following the Labor Day floods, Parks crews repaired 2 miles of Linear Trail from Richards Drive to Anderson Avenue, 3/4 miles of trail at Anneberg Park, and other park amenities. Currently, at Anneberg Park, ½-mile of the trail and the playground have not yet been repaired. These areas may qualify for additional funding to re-surface and/or re-route the trails and install different play surfacing to mitigate the effects of future flooding. We are currently working with the Kansas Department of Emergency Management (KDEM) Public Assistance Office and the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) to finalize damage assessments for all of the flood-affected areas. Once this process is complete, we expect these agencies to reimburse the City for the recovery efforts and provide additional funding to fully restore the Anneberg Park trails, parking lots, playground, and open spaces. We will provide weekly updates to report on repairs to these areas. If you would like to learn more, please reach out to the Parks and Recreation Department at 587-2754.
