The Working Cat Program is designed to find homes for cats six months of age and older that have been deemed un-adoptable through our normal adoption procedures. These cats are not suitable for life inside a house. The cat temperaments range from feral to friendly.
We will maintain a waiting list as the number of cats available for the working cat program fluctuates. An animal shelter staff will contact you if they think you are eligible for this program. You will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee of $25.00.
There are several predetermined reasons a cat can be considered a "working cat" These reasons include but are not limited to:
Cats whose litter box habits are not consistent enough to be indoor only
Cats that are fearful of people and prefer the company of other cats
Cats that are feral cats that were found as strays
You need to provide:
A warm secure barn, garage, shop, or building in which the cats can live out their lives.
A constant supply of dry food and fresh water
The willingness to trap and vaccinate every three years and provide licensed veterinary care in the event of a severe injury or illness
What you can expect from us:
All cats will be spayed or neutered prior to placement
All cats will be vaccinated against FVRCP and rabies.
All cats will be ear-tipped
All cats are FELV and FIV tested negative
