Non-Discrimination Ordinance

The City of Manhattan prohibits discrimination because of sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, and public accommodations. Discrimination because of race, sex, familial status, military status, disability, religion, age, color, or national origin or ancestry is not addressed by this ordinance because federal and state laws address unlawful discriminatory practices and complaint processes related to those protected classes.

The ordinance also  creates a local enforcement process for complaints of discrimination because of sexual orientation or gender identity.
