We offer an extensive program for developmentally-disabled individuals who choose not to participate in the integrated recreation program. Register for these programs at the Parks and Recreation office, 1101 Poyntz Ave., or by calling 785-587-2754. You can also ask to be put on the Therapeutic Recreation mailing list to be the first to know about new programs.
Challenger FootballThis is a free flag football program for students age 5-18 with special needs. Parent meeting will be held Sunday, Sept. 16 from 1-2 pm at the Wefald Pavilion in City Park. For questions contact Barb Kephart (913)488-4639

Participants create their own original play through improvisation and perform it. All actors must audition and demonstrate they are willing to participate, work appropriately with others and follow directions. You must be registered to audition, there is no fee for auditioning.

Cooking classes are hands-on and teach skills in basic preparation of healthy, budget-friendly recipes. Each month, recipes follow a theme. Two items are prepared per class. This may not qualify as a meal.

Come and be a part of the bowling fun with your friends each Tuesday! In July, we will have our annual bowling tournament, be sure to look for it and sign up. It will be a separate weekend event.

Let's grow some food, then learn how to use it! Gardening will introduce some classes on basic self-sufficiency and sustainability to our activities. Class will be outdoors when temperatures are between 50-90 degrees Fahrenheit and it is NOT raining/severe weather warnings. If weather is above or below those temperatures, class will meet at the Community House indoor gardening room.

Arts & Crafts
This semester we will continue to offer 2-3 craft choices, a coloring tables for 'while you wait' and a specialty arts table each week. Specialty arts will include yarn art, ceramics/pottery, water color painting and fabric art (sewing).
