    Arts in the Park is our summer concert series that brings live music to you every Friday throughout the summer. For over 40 years, the Manhattan Parks and Recreation Department has sponsored, organized, and produced free weekly outdoor concerts for the Manhattan community. We offer a variety of musical genres. Shows start at 8 pm at the Larry Norvell Band Shell in City Park unless otherwise noted.

  5. Tallgrass Tour Bus: Secrets of Manhattan

    June 22, 2019, 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM @ Flint Hills Discovery Center

    Learn the secrets to Manhattan infrastructure on this special behind-the-scenes Tallgrass Tour Bus. Begin at Manhattan Regional Airport for a tour of the terminal including the air traffic control tower. Travel next to Go Flex Air flight training school to see an airplane up close and their state of the art flight simulator. The day ends with a double dose of Public Works. Get insider tours of Manhattan’s water treatment plant and wastewater treatment facility. See where our clean water comes from and what really happens to everything that goes down the drain. Pre-registration is required by June 21 at 5:00 PM. Pre-register online, by phone at 785-587-2726 or in person at the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

    Slither into reading with Sunset Zoo and Manhattan Public Library! On the fourth Friday of every month at 10am, Sunset Zoo will bring to life an animal-themed children's story. Each month is based on a different story, and all storytimes include unique animal artifacts. Some storytimes feature a live animal and others may include a simple craft project. No registration or cost to participate.
